Prayer Vigil

All churches have been asked to help support the 24 hours per day they are in the jail program with the prayer vigil that covers this activity from the Tuesday afternoon until the Friday closing ceremony. You are asked to spend just half an hour in prayer for Kairos and it's participants during this period, at any time that suits you. A prayer vigil copy is on the noticeboard in the foyer at church for anyone who feels they can assist in this way. This will then go onto one master copy to go up during the program. You can put just your first name if you wish to support them. Thanks.

Ways to Support Kairos
Praying: That the inmates will respond to and experience Christ's love and forgiveness; that the team will be guided by the Holy Spirit. You can also add your name to the prayer vigil roster on the back noticeboard in the foyer and encourage your small study groups to add their names and support us in prayer as well.

Letters: To the inmates. See Peter Barritt for sample letter for guidelines on how to write them. The letters are given to the men during the course and play a very important part. Many prisoners NEVER receive a personal letter. You remain anonymous in this process as well.

Biscuits: HOME MADE biscuits are given to the inmates. The biscuits demonstrate the Christian love of the "outside" communities for the men. Some of the men have never received a completely free, 'No Strings Attached' gift in their lives. This simple act touches them very deeply. Slices and cakes are also given • these should be non-crumbly, as they need to be transported. Also note that raisins, sultanas etc may not be used and the biscuits must not be dusted with icing or castor sugar after baking. See the available recipe sheets.

Donations: Team members pay all their own costs for training, transport and accommodation amounting to approx $130 each, but the cost to Kairos per inmate is approx $130 as well. As 24 inmates will take the course, Kairos needs to find $3,120.

Please help if possible in this one area or, all four ways. You may wish to make an individual donation to "Kairos • Junee" You can give cash or cheques • (now tax deductible!!) to Tony to pass on or maybe your group may wish to sponsor one inmate.
